It’s been pretty busy around here for the past two months and I’d like to thank all of those people who bought and sold with me in July and August.

Fall is literally around the corner and one thing I’ve noticed is, people don’t often associate fall and winter with buying Real Estate. The truth is, fall and winter is an excellent time to buy. Over the years I have watched the market change with the seasons. In fall and winter prices tend to drop slightly giving buyers a great opportunity to get in to the market, trade up or buy a rental property. This month I am going to start showcasing neighbourhoods in the Lower Mainland. Many people think of Vancouver and Burnaby when they want to buy and often forget our city has many other great family-orientated neighbourhoods that are still very affordable. Considering my recent project was in Port Coquitlam I will begin in this city.

A Little About Port Coquitlam aka Poco

map_port_coquitlam There are 10 main areas of the city; Birchland Manor, Central Port Coquitlam, Citadel, Glenwood, Lower Mary Hill, Lincoln Park, Mary Hill, Oxford Heights, Riverwood and Woodland Acres. Port Coquitlam is bounded on the south by the Fraser River, on the east by the Pitt River, west by the Coquitlam River and by the Coast Mountains to the north. Another huge perk is no bridge to cross to get in to Vancouver.

The population is steadily growing. At the end of World War II, there were approximately 1,500 people residing in the area. In 1952, there were approximately 3,000 people and in 1960, the population was around 8,400. Today, the population is approximately 57,000.

Homes start around $380,000 and for $600,000 you can buy a great family home equipped with a mortgage helper. Port Coquitlam will soon have access to the skytrain and boasts many amenities within the city itself. If you have been considering buying a home but have found Vancouver and Burnaby to be out of reach, consider Port Coquitlam as your next hometown. The Renovation
A few months ago I promised I would show you the end result of a project I had started. You may remember a mint coloured bathtub and a pile of trash in a kitchen? Well it’s all gone now and the house is on the market for $988,000. If you are interested give me a shout.
